“Even before my flight I knew that our planet is small and vulnerable. But only in that very moment when I saw it from space in its
unspeakable beauty and fragility, I realized that it is mankind’s most important task to keep and preserve it for future generations.”
Siegmund Jähn, German astronaut |

Translating this uniqueness and singularity to comprehensible, yet fragile art, at the same time representing the value of Earth: this
was the initial factor motivating the artist Eberhard Bank, gemstone engraver from Niederwörresbach, to create his sculpture “The Blue Planet”. The 25-years anniversary of the first landing of man on the
moon on July 21st, 1969, and Bank’s first participation in INTERGEM are reasons enough to chose the X. INTERGEM as the location for the premiere. from INTERGEM NEWS No. 4 |

What could be better suited to represent the beauty of Earth rather than the most-precious stones from this planet? The globe is appropriately
crafted from aquamarine. The fragility and vulnerability described by Jähn are being symbolized by the rock crytal egg protecting the globe - it can be opened.Ein Globus von ganz besonderer Art im Faberge’Styl
